I think he's too stressed. |
I had thought of writing about when Dood moved inside to live with us, an unintended addition to our family.
Then there was the dream I had while pondering this dilemma where my mom and I were shopping at a mall. We were walking and talking and were several stores away when I realized I was still carrying a dress that I hadn't paid for. Since it was quite a walk back, I told her to sit and wait while I returned it. Unintended shoplifting.
But none of these seemed worthy of the challenge, so feeling the pressure of this mind-numbing insanity, I tossed and turned some more as the hour of dawn approached.
Disclaimer: When I entered this challenge, it was never my intention to present such drivel for public view.
Hey Linda! I love the unintended shoplifting; I hope you just walked in, hung it up and left without explaining. Security can be hard on repentant sinners ;) Indigo
ReplyDeleteYou can blame Nicky and Mike for your unintended lack of sleep.
ReplyDeleteI never intended to enter this bloody contest. Doing so was purely unintended.
ReplyDeleteThe shoplifting story was a dream, right??? Or did that happen?
ReplyDeleteUnintended lack of sleep is chronic at my house. I am really bad at sleeping.
Indigo- Well, dreams are sketchy sometimes, but it just kind of ended when I started back to the store.
ReplyDeletelaughingmom- Tonight will be better, as I reach for the list to see what is to be tomorrow's torture.
nonamedufus- You're in too deep to back out now.
Cheryl- Rest assured it was just a dream. My cats and my over-active mind sometimes cause sleep-deprivation. Fortunately, it's not too bad, or too often.
Hah, I love the accidental shoplifting dream. That sounds like something I might actually do. ;)
ReplyDeleteI walked out of walmart with my cart, started unloading and realized there were fishing supplies under my purse. I was so scared... as if the police were right behind me! I walked in and paid for them, apologizing profusely. It was about $5.00 worth of stuff. The lady looked at me like I was crazy!
ReplyDeleteI do the stupidest things when I'm shopping. Walking out of a store with a dress sounds just like me. Thank goodness it was just a dream for you!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "I think he's too stressed." This is hardly drivel! It was actually fun in places. The unintended shoplifting really seems to have resonated with people, too.
ReplyDeleteNot me, though. I'm not a dirty thief. ;)
I can't believe you made it out of the shop with a dress!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you managed to get out the shop without realizing you were carrying the dress!!!
ReplyDeleteRegarding drivel, I don't consider your writing to ever be "drivel." I enjoy both your fiction and nonfiction. Sometimes it's nice to just have someone talk about a memory. I like the term "Unintended shoplifting."
BTW I've had many nights like the one you described. I hope you will sleep well tonight:~)
"a long restless night as I tossed and turned with words and phrases spinning their way through my head like a whirling dervish, spitting out snippets of stories that will never be written. I guess that's what happens when writers try to wring out wrinkled words like a well worn dish rag."
ReplyDeleteOMG. YES.
NOT DRIVEL AT ALL.
