Can You DrawSomething?

A while back I was introduced to a new app called DrawSomething.  I play this on my Samsung Stratosphere smart phone which has a 4-inch screen.  Some folks use iPads or tablets, which obviously provide a bigger "page" on which to create their masterpieces.  You have a choice of 3 words, and you must choose one and draw something that represents that word.  It's sort of like charades, and the drawing instrument is your finger.

I have virtually no drawing talent, but it's fun to draw, and then watch the other player guess your drawing.  You get coins as points so you can purchase more colors or bombs.  Bombs serve two purposes.  One, you can use them to get special or additional words to choose from.  Or you can use a bomb to explode away some of the unnecessary letters if you are having difficulty guessing a drawing.

It's a great way to while away some of those long hot summer hours, and you can dream about where you would  really like to be.

Are any of you DrawSomething fans?

  1. I have loaded a couple of drawing apps onto my Iphone but just for drawing cartoons that I email to myself and throw on my blog from time to time.

Playing online with others makes me nervous. I do play games but just against myself such as Sudoku2 by Finger Arts or (my very favorite)Whirly Word.

  2. I think I have to be one of the few people on the planet that doesn't play a lot of online games... or have a smart phone, for that matter. My phone isn't completely stupid, but it does have a below average IQ. :-)

  3. Cheryl- I just play drawsomething with my hubby and one other friend, currently. I have played games with random strangers, and it's OK. We also play word feud - which is like scrabble and words with friends.

Nicky- So I wasn't the last person on earth to get a smart phone (last December). My other phone was no slouch either. I only play two online games , drawsomething and word feud. It's fun and a good way to pass a few minutes when you're waiting for something or someone.

  4. @Nicky - You are not the only one who doesn't play online games. I don't but I do have a smartphone which, at times, doesn't seem very smart. I won't mind trying the draw something app if I can ever find the time.

  5. So why aren't you playing me then? When I started I had about ten friends I played with. They've all dropped off except for one now.

  6. Angela- Hi there! Drawsomething is fun and allows you find your creative side, whether that is stick figures or details. There's no rush and you play as you have time. Although it will time out eventually after some number of days with a play with a particular person. It doesn't affect drawings with other players.

Babs- I'll send you an e-mail to let you know my username so you'll know who's sending you a drawing. I must warn you, though, I'm not much of an artist.

  7. Linda, despite having next to no drawing talent, I love DrawSomething. Mommaque is my nick, if you're interested in adding another to your list. :)

  8. DrawSomething taught me I can't draw ANYTHING. Babs is AMAZING at the game, though!

  9. Hilary- Thanks for playing drawsomething with me. It's a lot of fun.

Meleah- What I have learned is that even though I have no drawing talent, I can still make drawings that people can figure out, and I'm slowly getting better. You're right - Babs is fantastic. Let me know if you want to play.
