Quote of the Week

Kevin's Flower Garden

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.  - Marcel Proust

This week my quote is personal...our best friends will be moving soon.  They must continue on the journey which life has placed before them.  Their journey takes them to the far away land of Pennsylvania, the home town of one of our forefathers, Benjamin Franklin, and the resting place of the Liberty Bell, a symbol our freedom.  Instead of being sorrowful because they must leave, I should be grateful for the nearly three years we have had together in the same city.

My friends, I shall miss you desperately...but I will come visit in the summer!   Long may your garden grow.

  1. What a beautiful quote. I'm sorry your friends are moving, but it will be wonderful to get to visit. I wish my best friend would move to Paris so I could go there for every vacation.

  2. I admire your positive attitude about the move. I forbade my best friend from ever moving. You are a much bigger person than I am :-)

  3. Linda- Thank you. It's true, I will get to see new and exciting things when I visit, but I'd really rather have them here.

Nicky- The key word here is "should". That is what I should be feeling. She's like the sister I never had, so I'll likely have a meltdown when they actually leave. So, no, I cannot accept that attribute. :(

  4. It's no fun when friends move. Unfortunately, we've been on both the giving and receiving end of that as we've moved -- just when we were beginning to make friends -- and had friends move away too soon. Thank God for the Interwebs, though, where the world becomes a smaller place.

  5. Awww, I feel your pain, Linda. It's so hard when good friends move away...

And I love that quote and I really love the positive way you're viewing the situation.

  6. unfinishedperson- It is really hard to see them leave. They are scouting for a place to live this week. So it will be a reality soon. Facebook will help, some.

Talon- I've known her longer than I've had those boots, and much of her adult life she has lived out of state. I've been lucky the last few years. Oh, and I'm not nearly as positive as it sounds. That is more what I should feel, than what I do feel. Call it a projection of positivity.
