My Little Red Wagon

This is Day 2 of the 2017 edition of the 20 Days of Chill writing challenge hosted by P. J. at A ‘lil HooHaa. Today's prompt is Little Red Wagon. Please visit the other participants for more stories.

Every kid had a little red wagon, didn't they?

Not only did I have one, I had two. The first was sized for a toddler and I would haul things around in it, probably toys or stuffed animals, or maybe books because Mom said I would carry my books around all the time. While not having a lot of real memories at that age, this is what I expect I did with it. Perhaps I was even pulled around the driveway along with my animals.

When I got too old for that, then I got my big-girl wagon similar to the one in the picture. Just like with my sled, (read that story here), Daddy would hook my wagon up behind the lawn mower and away we would ride. It wasn't too many years before I gave up riding the wagon for riding the mower but that's another story. Needless to say, those were some great Daddy-Daughter moments.

    1. I expect I do still have the wagon, if not both of them tucked away in an attic somewhere. And yes, they are sweet memories.

  2. Have to love an old Radio Flyer! I don't remember having one as a kid, but they were the ultimate. Good story. :)

    1. They are pretty cool, and apparently never go out of style!

  3. You must have had a huge yard for a riding mower. Ours was more of the postage stamp size type of yard, which was surprising even for early 1960s in Southern California.

    1. Not really, it was a half acre, but there was another half acre vacant lot next to us and we kept it mowed until it was sold by the developer. It has been sold yet again, and we own it now (still vacant).

  4. OK... Now I want to be pulled in a little red wagon behind a mower. That sounds EPIC!!!! What wonderful memories. I had an amazing father as well - we were very lucky. :)

    1. Those were fun times, whether wagon or sled. We were indeed very lucky, and I know we both miss them.

  5. I have had a number of red wagons made my Radio Flyer. As you said...I had the little one, then the bigger one BUT even now I have one that has wooden side inserts that fit into the base (called the Town and Country model) that I use to garden with. They are made sturdier than other types of garden wagons.

    1. None of mine ever had the wooden sides, but I think that is so cool. They are definitely sturdy. I know that you garden a lot, so I bet yours gets lots of use.
