Daydreaming

Lying on the beach with the gentle ocean breeze caressing her body, Gina drifted from one delectable daydream to another.  The wispy white clouds drifted lazily across the sky, temporarily masking the sun's warming rays.

Suddenly her reverie was broken by the sound of someone yelling.  Her heart thumping, she jumped to her feet looking in the direction of the noise. Relief filled her when she saw two young boys playing Frisbee on the beach with their dog.

Today's post was written for the Five Sentence Fiction writing prompt based on the word "delectable".

  5. Wonderful simple little piece, and your imagery was breathtaking! I could totally imagine myself there, which you should consider a compliment because here it is cold and rainy today. I love that your character was perfectly at ease, and you really described her emotions. Great writing!

  8. Great little piece, Linda. I expected the screaming to be something more ominous and terrible than children playing, and I sort of wanted it to be so as well, but it was an unexpected ending for me and that, in my opinion, is one of the best things a writer can do.

  10. Oooo... I love your beach photos. That wide open space, with all that water, blue sky and sand. Nothing like it.

And I live no where near such a place, so it's a treat to see your pics!

  11. Brenda, thanks for visiting and looking through some of the older posts. I love the beach, too. Most of my beach pictures are taken in Florida where we go each year on vacation.
