A Tortured Soul

Caught in a world between the living and the dead.
A lonely, dark place where forgotten spirits dwell.
She cries out but no one hears.
"Why?" she sobs.  "This wasn't supposed to happen.
My little boy won't remember; my husband will forget.
I never realized how precious life is.
Few do until it's too late."

  1. A pointed 55. Live life well with no regrets. I have a penchant for cemeteries ~ where I wander wondering and creating stories for the souls laid to rest. Your 55 reminded me of the many hours I've spent peacefully reflecting in places like you have pictured.

Here's mine today: Flash 55 ~ You Brighten My Day.

  2. Linda,

This is great 55 and a good life lesson. I liked the closing lines. They'd make a good epitaph for a tombstone.

Like Chef Kar, I also have a fondness for cemeteries, especially old ones. I love to read the tombstones and wonder about the lives of the person.

  4. Hi Linda .. I think so many of us go through life in this direction .. if we could only find out earlier.

She was a tortured soul without much hope .. great 55 though .. cheers Hilary

  6. This is a desperate situation: no longer alive, and powerless to be reborn!

  7. I sure hope I never have to be in that place! The between-worlds dark place, I mean.

The photo place actually looks quite lovely.

  8. This has great impact. We must enjoy our lives and those around us....before it's too late.

  9. Chef Kar- I used to think cemeteries were morbid places to be because it made me think of losing people, and I didn't want to face that. Now they are interesting, especially like Sara said, the old ones. I picture the people of that time and what they might have been like.

Sara- Thanks, it's interesting what comes to us sometimes when we take pen to paper. This came about as fast as I could scribble it down. Wish that happened all the time. Like you, I like to imagine the people from old cemeteries.

    Brian- Me too!

guatami tripathy- Indeed they are. Hopefully good and comforting ones.

Hilary- Thanks. Yes, we do, but life doesn't come with a user manual. We just have to figure it out as we go. Unfortunately, sometimes that isn't soon enough.

Linda- Thank you. Sorry if I creeped you out.

Mona- Definitely not a place I want to end up.

Jannie- Me neither! That was taken here in town, and it was lovely. There were many very old graves there.

Monkey Man- Absolutely. Sometimes we need a reminder.

  10. I love the photo, and the idea. I think the world is haunted with people who don't appreciate what they have when they have it. I try, every day, not to be one of those.

    Excellent post!
