Quote of the Week

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
- Neale Donald Walsch

Draw a small circle on a piece of paper.  This represents the defense, or your comfort zone. Then draw a larger circle. This represents the offense, or all the amazing things you'd like to try but aren't comfortable with. See the disconnect?  Let's merge those two circles and that intersection is your new end zone, or goal.

You don't want to be left sitting on the sideline, so whether it's trying something new, conquering a fear by facing it, or just going to a Super Bowl party when you know zero about football, get out there and stretch your territory. Sure, you may fumble or even drop the ball, but you will still be a champ because you tackled something new or daunting.

Congratulations to the New England Patriots on last night's Super Bowl victory.

  1. I'm all for expanding my horizons.. just not by watching sports. ;)

  2. I used to watch basketball all the time having gotten interested in it in the 7th grade going to the school games. Then I moved on to college basketball. Haven't really watched in years. Football is an entirely different story, but it was a social rather than sporting event for me. I did, however, watch the game.

    1. You're welcome. Glad my football analogy could help. It was fun trying to incorporate the terminology into my post. The party was fun, too, even though I truly know nothing about the game.

  4. Linda, I like the idea of merging the two circles. There is something that feels quite energizing, and freeing.

Mmm... shall have to ponder further.

    Thanks!!

  5. We have hosted a super-bowl party for almost 20 years. The men watch football downstairs, we women catch up and marvel at how fast another year has passed, and of course, there's lots of food!

I'm not sure yet what new thing I'll try this year. Last year it was some new more challenging work-out DVDs.
I like the circle analogy as well.

    1. Hi Janet, thank you for visiting Roses to Rainbows. Everyone actually did sit down and watch the game, talking all the way through about things I knew nothing about. For me, it was a social thing.

  6. NO WAY. I LOVE this.... with all the comfort zone stuff I've talked about! I so easily stay in that circle content and now it has taken a friend or two of mine to pull me out. Such a GREAT message!!!!

    1. Thanks Katherine! I think for a lot of us it is much easier to live within our comfort zones. It is an effort to step into the intersection. I'm glad you are getting out.
