Quote of the Week

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
- Anaïs Nin, Diary, 1969

This is an unintentional continuation of the last several weeks' thought process.  We've talked about hindsight being the key to the future as it enables us to see the possibilities. Then we touched on our inner strength, which is always there, but sometimes seems harder to access.

This week we look at life and how full it is or maybe how lacking it seems.  Courage and inner strength are closely related and tie into our ability to make the most of what life has to offer.

The point of today's quote is about finding the courage to move forward and broaden our horizons.  We only get out of life what we put into it, and sometimes that takes strength, courage and the ability to learn from our mistakes, as well as the courage to risk making those mistakes in the first place.

  1. Hi Linda .. love the photo and exactly - we only get out what we put in .. and we must put in ...

We are lucky if we receive, but giving is essential ... we have to experience much to increase our expansion abilities .. fail and grow, fail and succeed, and so it continues .. cheers Hilary

  2. Yes, Hilary, thus is the cycle. Sometimes and somethings are harder than others, but definitely worth any extra effort. Courage is key, always.

  3. That is such a thought-provoking quote, Linda. And it does seem to be that way...sometimes it takes a lot to summon courage...sometimes we aren't even able to...but when we do, the reward is definitely heart-expanding.

    1. You're right, sometimes it's very hard, and sometimes we don't know we have found it until it's over and we realize we were stronger than we thought we were.

  4. Wow. This is one to think on. I loved these words of yours..."sometimes that takes strength, courage and the ability to learn from our mistakes, as well as the courage to risk making those mistakes in the first place."

    1. One to think on...indeed, and something we all need to practice, but it's not always easy. That's why it's called courage.
