Quote of the Week

Heat, ma'am! it was so dreadful here, that I found there was nothing left for it but to take off my flesh and sit in my bones.
- Sydney Smith, Lady Holland's Memoir

This quote seems most appropriate given the heat wave that we've been having.

June was a great month and participating in the 30-day writing challenge hosted by Nicky and Mike at We Work for Cheese was a lot fun.  Now I'll be taking a short break and return to my regular posting schedule soon.  I'll still be coming around to visit.

Happy Fourth of July!

  1. I've loved your 30 day challenge writings, Linda. It's hot and sticky here, too, and I'm hoping it won't be like that all summer because it's already stressing everyone and trees and plants out!

Have a beautiful Fourth of July!

  3. Have a great 4th and I will look forward to you coming back after your break. I hadn't read your About page until today. I love your cats. They are precious. The memorials had me in tears.

  4. I'm back and you're off. I imagine it's a well deserved break after your 30 days of writing:~)

I love this post and the quote. It's so perfect. It made me laugh. We're also feeling the heat. We had a break with TS Debby, but now it's back and boy, does it drag you down.

Stay cool and enjoy your break!

  5. Thanks Talon, it was fun and enlightening. We had a mild start to summer, but it has definitely cranked up. Ours will probably be like this most of the rest of the summer.

P.J. I'm not sure where you are, but I think a fair portion of the country is under this heat wave.

Cheryl- Thanks for visiting. Our cats are our family, and indeed very precious. Sorry for causing you tears, but that happens to me too.

Sara- Well, I'm sort of off. Not posting for a few days will allow me to catch up with folks I've missed, so I'll still be around. Wish this were a vacation, but not yet. The heat has been insufferable and the grass is drying up.
