At the Lake

Over Memorial weekend we went out to Salem Lake, had a picnic and did a little walking.

Here is an interesting little guy I spotted while walking along the trail.  He almost looks like he's in a bubble.

You can see the clouds reflected in the water.

This is the dam.  They are going to be draining part of the lake to replace the dam sometime in the next year.

Here is another view of the dam through the fence.  The gate was locked because of flooding on the trail from the previous night's rain.

This long-legged bird could be a great blue heron.
He's just looking for a little lunch.

  4. Hi VetTech- Thanks for visiting roses2rainbows. It is a pretty nice lake. Not sure what it'll be like while they're working on the dam, though. Probably no fishing or boating.

  5. Linda, that bubble bug is remarkable and strange!

It's nice to get away, isn't it? Hopefully the new dam will get done quickly so you can enjoy the lake!

  6. Linda,

I loved all the pictures, but especially the one of the little creature on the leaf. It does look like he's in a bubble.

Hey, you know what? I bet that picture would make a wonderful story. He's stuck in a bubble and has to get out....a possible magpie tale:~)

  7. Talon- I thought he was cute. I've never seen a bug like that, and I have yet to find out what he is.

Sara- Thanks. That little bug is something else, isn't he.

  8. Did you find out what that bug was? He does look like is in a bubble, or like a lady bug with clear wings. Great pictures!
