Quote of the Week

Once you accept the fact that you're not perfect, then you develop some confidence.
- Rosalynn Carter

I believe this is true.  We can become so concerned with making mistakes, that we begin to doubt ourselves.  Once we are no longer burdened with the fear of imperfection, we are able to accomplish more and thus gain confidence in ourselves and our abilities.

  2. Hilary- No, true perfection does not exist in humanity. That doesn't stop people from trying, though, and thus being disappointed.

  4. I suppose she's also saying that we shouldn't worry about what others think.

  5. I like this quote and your comments about it. I think one of the hardest things to accept in life is that we are not perfect and will never be.

Perfection doesn't exist, but we keep striving to find it in ourselves and people around us.

I know I struggle with this and have given up on things in my life because I couldn't do them perfectly or as good as someone else, which becomes a sort of "perfect" envy.

I think she's saying that if we can learn to be happy where we are and with what we do, confidence becomes so much easier to digest.

As always, thanks for picking out a quote that makes me THINK:~)

  6. Hi Linda .. it's that saying (or similar) that we don't worry as we get older, we realise we're all cauliflowers in the front row - all different, all aspiring, some quiet, some quietly confident .. we develop as we go .. Exactly as you say .. realising we're not perfect makes life so much easier ..

Have a great Thanksgiving .. Hilary
