According to the map I was looking at, the lower part of the state doesn't have any. :(

We have goldfinches too, but since I don't have feeders, we don't see many. That is a great feeder. I took this video at Hubby's brother's place.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349143005152545854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2805562596725665277.post-58369633482396387882012-01-19T13:27:00.759-05:002012-01-19T13:27:00.759-05:00I have lots of Chickadees at my feeder. Right now the Northern visitors are here (golden finches) and they're rather pushy, but chickadees are FAST.

Thanks for sharing the information and the picture. I found that there are two different species. The one around here is called, surprise of surprises, the Carolina Chickadee. It's territory is the Southern to Southwestern US, excluding southern Florida. The second is the Black-capped Chickadee. They are found in most of the rest of the US and parts of Canada, excluding the most southern/western part of the US.

Jayne, according to the map, I don't think there are any in CA., but their habitat line is the border of CA and Oregon.

Nicky- There are black caps in Canada, but I can't tell from the map if they are in your area.

Talon- Thank you. I wish I had the experience of feeding them by hand. It is cool to watch them crack the sunflower seeds.

Meleah- You should have black caps in your area. Maybe now you will see some. Sometimes it works that way. You hear of something, and then lo and behold there it is. I hope you do - they are so sweet. They love sunflower seeds if you want to try and attract some.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349143005152545854noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2805562596725665277.post-78077501228526515022012-01-15T17:39:57.623-05:002012-01-15T17:39:57.623-05:00This is the first time I've heard of OR seen a...This is the first time I've heard of OR seen a Chickadee. I had an aunt who fed them all the time and we could stand outside with arms and hands outstretched and the chickadees would land and take seed off our palms. It was a cool thing that I always remember and as a child I wished she lived closer to us :)

Awesome video, Linda.TALONhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03205633556998220372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2805562596725665277.post-3904709786864881072012-01-13T18:28:37.368-05:002012-01-13T18:28:37.368-05:00I think that's the first time I've ever se...I think that's the first time I've ever seen a Chickadee.
