More Than Just a Number

Do you lurk, secure in your anonymity?  Do you regularly visit blogs, read their words and smile, laugh, or even cry and then slip quietly out the back door?  Is that you?

I thought so! I see your footprints, so I know you've been here, but your identity is only a number to me.

Come now, don't you want to be known by more than just a number? We're real people here. We have names, personalities, interests and thoughts.

Our church has a ritual each Sunday wherein each person (or couple) signs a pew pad which is passed down the row and back to mark our attendance and alert us to visitors.

I will admit that at first we did not sign the pew pad...we weren't ready to be identified. Eventually that changed, and now our attendance is recorded by name, and not just by someone counting heads.

I hope that you will soon feel at home here, and 'sign the pew pad', so to speak, by leaving a comment and let me know how I'm doing.

As always, thanks for visiting Roses to Rainbows.  Y'all come back now, y'hear.

  1. Well, I'm a regular visitor, but hope your invitation will encourage others to leave a comment. I think people don't realize for bloggers how important comments can be. They let us know SOMEONE is out there and reads the words we put up.

I remember my first comment from a non-family member. I was so delighted! It felt like I was actually communicating!

  2. I do read your posts, in my feed reader, but rarely have the time to actually visit blogs lately. I am still here though :)

  3. Interesting lure. :) I had someone contact me via email last week. She said that she wasn't a blogger and never comments on blogs but that she does read. I think she was a bit fearful of putting herself out there. She wrote to ask permission to print and frame one of my photos for her sister. Sweet woman. Hopefully it's hanging on her wall by now.

So, there are lurkers for sure. When I did my anniversary post, I asked lurkers to speak up .. just this once. I think only one did. Maybe that's all I have. :)

  4. Sara, bless your heart, you are a faithful reader, and yes we do like to know that we are reaching people. It is a community, and the communication is rewarding.

Babs, thank you! I know you have had a super busy year with a zillion things going on. I'm glad to know you are still hanging in there with me.

Hillary, that is great, and not surprising, that someone contacted you about one of your photos. You have a good eye for what makes a good picture, a good camera, and beautiful landscape and critters to work with. Your fall foliage pictures were amazing.
