  1. I've had a fair bit of experience with counting sheep... Damn insomnia.

  3. My compulsive night time activity is getting up to pee four times a night. But I am able to go back to sleep though. Just thought I'd share.

  4. What a great way to handle the prompt. Hadn't thought about my insomnia as a possible link to a compulsion..but it fits.

  5. Insomnia can plague us at times. I keep my reading material close at hand.

  6. Oh, I can relate to that far too well! Great take on today's prompt, Linda.

  7. When I wake up I HAVE to look at the clock to see what time it is before I can go back to sleep. Because I'm weird like that.

  8. And this is why I take Tylenol PM...

  11. Counting sheep never worked for me, personally. It's oddly stimulating enough so that I'm forced to stay awake as long as I'm counting. I do have to say that this writing challenge has had me feeling tired many nights in February.

  12. Ziva- Mostly I sleep well, but not without interruptions from the cats, especially the one who likes to be airlifted to the bed several times during the night and sleeps on my pillow.

    Sara- Haiku to the rescue!

Dufus- Thanks for sharing. Good that you don't lose too much sleep over it.

Cheryl- I guess it depends on how you deal with your insominia whether it is a compulsion or not.

Hilary- I guess it hits everyone at some point. I found that taking aspirin and lying quietly can help.

Nicky- Many times we just have too much on our minds and can't get them to stop thinking.

Paula- Maybe you are calculating how much longer you can sleep? I sometimes avoid looking at the clock, prefering just to sleep without knowing what time it is.

life in the mom lane- I have used benadryl, which is the sleep ingredient in that.

P.J.- It happens to everyone eventually.

    Indigo- Thanks!

KZ- I get that. Sometimes I recite nursery rhymes. I actually came up with a system to combat sleeplessness, which I wrote on in "A, B, C, Zzzzzz!".
