Or Else

It is day 15 of the 30 minus 2 days of writing hosted by Nicky and Mike of We Work For Cheese.  Today's prompt is "Or Else".  Visit Nicky's post to see what else is going on.  This is also posted for Friday Flash 55.

We had been warned over and over that we should straighten up or else, but those were just words.

So the moment that glass broke, our fate was sealed.  Mother Superior rapped her ruler on the desk as we stood silent before her.

I guess now we will find out just what "or else" meant.

  3. Nora- This is part of an earlier story (I linked to it) where a brother and sister get into a lot of trouble at school. She missed the ball he through and it went through a window. Sort of a threw and through.

  4. Oh, damn, nuns. I had nuns as teachers in grade school and high school. They discouraged girls and boys from holding hands in the hallways saying or else girls would get pregnant. Except we were smart enough to know our sex organs weren't in our hands.

  5. Yeah, I've come across a few Ruler Wielding Nuns in my day, thats why I USED to be Catholic!
    Excellent take on BOTH prompts.
But especially loved your "Or Else" 55
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

  11. True story: A nun repeatedly whacked my knuckles with a ruler once to punish me. Problem is, she was wearing her habit, and I enjoyed it......

  12. When I read that I pictured the scene in the orphanage in the movie Blues Brothers.

  13. I went to Catholic School as a kid in the 1980's and 1990's. Thankfully by that point, knuckle rapping was out of fashion. Even so, I never had the guts to test a nun's patience by breaking a window.

  14. Oh, the good ole days of Catholic School. Our Lady of Solitude. I miss those days.

You know, there is a reason why nuns run all the businesses of the Roman Catholic Church.

  15. Nicky- I don't wanna know either. Good thing I never stirred up trouble.

nonamedufus- Except for 5 years, I went to public schools, but still no nuns.

G-Man- Thank you. It was good to get back to a 55-er.

P.J. - I guess that's what the "or else" was.

Brian- I've never known one, but I can imagine...

    Cheryl- Mine too.

Talon- I would expect not, or people wouldn't threaten it. Although some are probably empty threats just to effect compliance.

Ziva- No you don't, because it's never good.

    MikeWJ- Shame on you! ;)

Shawn- Now I want to watch the movie.

KZ- I'd never want to go to a school where knuckle rapping occurred.

brandi- You are the only one who voiced any fondness for Catholic school and the nuns, except MikeWJ, and well, you know how he is.
