An Evening in Spring

The sun set over the lake streaking the clouds with brilliant orange and lavender and aqua accents.  Jenny and her mom sat on the back porch listening to the frogs and the crickets.

"This is a perfect evening" said Jenny's mom.  "Do you know what would make it more perfect? asked Jenny.

"What's that?"

"Lemonade!"

  6. I liked this 55. It made me remember when I was kid and sitting on the porch. We often had sweet tea and I mean SWEET. I watched my mom make one day and couldn't believe how much sugar went in the tea.

Just add one thing. As I grew in the South, women were not allowed to cuss. When I was a kid, when something happened that made my mom mad, she call out "Sweet Honey in Tea." It took me ages to realize what she was saying without saying:~)

    BTW -- that's a cute picture of otters:~)

  9. G-Man- Wow, two comments. I guess you really are ready for Spring!

    Austin- Thanks! Umm, tasty.

Talon- I think we are all anxious for Spring. I know I am, even though Winter wasn't all that bad here.

Jannie- Ah, a hug would be nice, but I was keeping the Magpie theme with the lemonade. I do love a good sunset.

Sara- That is interesting about the sweet tea. In my experience it used to be difficult to find sweet tea in Florida in the restaurants. It is still rare in New England.

Valerie- Thank you! Lemonade, done right, is a delicious tonic. It doesn't matter if it was snowing. I make soup in the summer. Who cares. Thanks for visiting.

Brian Miller- Pour a glass for me?

  15. And make it Pink Lemonade -- to match the sky! :-)

Those spring evenings are special. I love them because we're shedding the effect of winter and the fair weather is ahead. They are delicious.
